Health and Safety Policy

Part 1: Statement of intent

Our health and safety policy is to provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions and environment for all our employees, volunteers and hirers, plus any other people who are directly affected by our activities, such as members of the public at activities and events. 

We are committed to meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Part 2: Responsibilities for health and safety 

  1. Overall responsibility for health and safety at all events and activities taking place at TWM lies with the Management Group who will ensure that:

  • the proper operating practices and procedures to prevent injury are adhered to and encouraged 

  • all staff, volunteers and hirers are aware of their roles and responsibilities in all health and safety matters.

  • health and safety procedures are monitored to ensure they are upheld

  • our Fire Risk Assessment is complete and up to date and that fire-fighting equipment is inspected and serviced annually

  • the Health and Safety Policy is reviewed and revised as necessary. 

2. Day-to-day responsibility for ensuring policy is put into practice lies the Health and Safety Officer, currently Sam Chappell. For all events and activities run by hirers of TWM, this responsibility will be delegated to the named hirer, as specified in TWM’s Conditions.

Part 3: Health and Safety Information 

  • The Health and Safety at Work poster will be displayed in the TWM lobby. 

  • All accidents should be recorded in the Accident Book which is kept in the lobby with the First Aid Box.  

  • Copies of the accident record will be held by the Management Group, along with copies of our risk assessments, COSHH assessment and fire regulations, evacuation procedures, and equipment testing.  

  • The Fire Plan and fire evacuation procedures will be displayed in the lobby. All staff, volunteers and users of TWM are instructed to read these carefully and to know what to do in the event of a fire.
